My Love Affair

How many people have seen the movie Brown Sugar? I like that movie a lot - not only because its a love story but also because of the ode to hip-hop. In my case, it would be to music in general. I think in music, i see music, i relate situations to songs..I live and breathe music.
This is not an exaggeration. I am obsessed with music. I love music with the passion that i am sure some feel for a lover. I have been discovering new music lately and i feel this incredible urge to share some and there are some artists/songs that i guard jealously. Not wanting to share them for i feel they are mine.
Music has made me new friends and caused me to part ways with otherws. Moments and memories in my life are tied to songs which make me crave some songs and be absolutely repelled by others.
I sense that slowly, my blog will become more musically inclined than anything else but here's a secret - if you know me and can get past the obvious, then a simple soundbyte post can shed light on my state of mind, what i am thinking, where my head is.......

Ummm... I kinda knew that about you already! LOL!!!

I think I have made enough noise about how much I love your blog and the person behind it.

You are one of the people teaching me more about music... introducing me to songs I'd never have thought about listening to... songs that I end up falling in love with... :-)

ahhh it is, you know. it just is.
It's like my lover on a warm Friday evening.,. it just is man..
It's like my angry lover after a day of neglect.
there is nothing like waking up to Luther, or vivaldi, or Sunny Ade
and going to bed listening to Ndambi, Cassandra, Obey, Bach, Lauryn Hill... gosh..
There's just nothing like.. laying daown on your back on the floor and letting Charlie Parker just wash over you.
There's is nothing like feeling blue and listening to Nina Simone singing 'I love you porgy'.
there's just nothing like it.

Damn. Uzo.. you've been in my head. I've been selfish of late. There have been some gems that I've been holding to my chest and keeping for myself. I know I should share but I get scared.. like what would they do with it.
Would the person I give it to love it like I love it.. will they sit back close their eyes and let it run through them

Would they realise what extension of me it is.
And then I remember it is not up to me to decide how another person feels it. if they do. they do.
if they don't. they don't.
I need not be soo selfish anymore.

Lolll - talk about stating the obvious ...

Oddly enough your music is the one thing I dont listen to on your blog. I relate to the lyrics and the songs themselves (especially the ones I know), I just dont listen to them :-D

(Will make more of an effort - promise)
