Soundbyte!

Its really so hard to pick my favorite love songs. I keep browsing through my collection and finding old favorites or discovering new songs i have heard countless times but never actually listened to. My song today is a remake of a classic:

Elton John & Patti Labelle - Your Song

This song was originally done by Elton John in the 80's i believe and i have always loved it. I bought Patti Labelle's Classic Moments cd last year and discovered this version. Ms Patti is one very expressive singer. I love her songs and love her performances even more - plus she is a diva originale with gorgeous shoes and jewelery. Then Elton John can crank out some good tunes. Put the two together and this version has joined my list of favorite songs. Listen to them "talk" to each other as they sing.

The words of this song can really be applied to any relationship. The chorus goes like this:

I hope you dont mind
That i put down in words
How wonderful life is cos you're in the world

I write a lot. It may not be pulitzer winning material but i have always found it easier to write a 10 page letter pouring my thoughts out than to simply say one line. I have so many people in my life that really make living so special. Enjoy!

I might be afraid to listen to the duet version for fear of it somehow tainting my fondness for the original. Oh, and credit to Bernie Taupin, Elton John's lyricist, for writing the words to Your Song.

Your Song is from 1970, not the 1980's.
