Monumental Soundbyte - 90

Oleta Adams - Get Here
This song!
The words of this song pack a powerful punch and Oleta Adams delivers it vocally.
This is the song i associate most with her even though she has had a distinguished career in R&B, Jazz and Gospel. However, this song was originally recorded by Brenda Russell. Oleta's version was nominated for a Grammy in 1991.
I can sing this song.,...I mean i can SING this song with every fiber of emotion in me. I really really feel something when i hear this song....
I dont sing it as much now...but there was a point in my life when i was in a long distance relationship and the words of this song just meant the world to me. The emotions expressed and the yearning and desperation in the words...
Yeah - i decided no more long distance relationships.....
The words are here...Enjoy!
You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just- get here if you can
You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just- get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, then surely you would be closer
I need you closer
You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just- get here if you can
I don't care, I dont care, I need you right here right now
I need you right here, right now, right by my side
I don't care how you get here, just- get here if you can

You know, I really loved that Oleta Adams'song, and then I saw some comedian on comic view, and he was like 'you can reach me by railway, trailway, by caravan........damn, where does this bi*** live"?
I was rolling on the floor laughing. Nice blog by the way

I was in a long distance relationship too and everytime I heard this song then (she gave it to me), it told the story of the pain of separation. This song, even though beautiful, has no pleasant memories for me.
