Pet Peeve

My name is spelt UZO not UZOR.....

I am so irritated because i correct people over and over and over again but it just doesnt seem to stick. How annoying is it to get an email from a colleague that starts: Hey Uzor....

What the hell? Get it right. Its UZO not UZOR

How??? Are these Nigerians that actually spell your name "Uzor"???? How now?

Maybe cos they are trying to "Americanize" it the wrong way and pronounce it that way... so they now spell it that way.

Pele dear
UZO :-)

hmm...
My email address contains my name..My signature has the shorten form of my name.. YET people still come up with the most bizarre derivations of my name..
I can correct mispronounciations.. but willfully bastardizing my name is just too much.. just too too much.

I can write a book on this topic. The worst one is that people automatically shorten my name. Claiming it's too long. I promptly cut off a few letters from their names in response. And never in a good way. E.g Emmanuel becomes "Emmanu"; Bolaji becomes "aji".

I have gone from the phase of correcting to the phase of not answering when my name is not pronounced right. How hard is it really?

LOL This is a pet peeve of mine too - people often add either an 'o' or an 'r' to the short form of my name. Once or twice I've even gotten an 'h' added to it! I find it both funny and highly annoying.
