My song for today is by The Platters in honour of Ms Zola Taylor - the only female in the group who passed away yesterday. I am sure the song will be familiar to some. If you ever saw the movie "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" starring Larenz Tate as Frankie Lymon her name might be familiar since she was played by Halle Berry. After Frnakie died, 3 women including Zola claimed to be his widow. In the movie, Vivica Fox and LeLa Rochon played the other love interests.
Zola Taylor broke gender barriers as the first female member of the 1950s R&B group and she helped the group reach Number 1 in the pop & R&B charts in the US with the song "The Great Pretender".
The song, Only You is one of their more popular hits even though Zola hadnt joined the group at the time this song was released. Enjoy!
