He Sang, She Sang - 11

Knocks me off my feet
Its been a while since i put up a music post and that's because i was really off kilter. I have stopped spinning now so things should get back to normal now.
This song is really one of my favorite songs and was originally recorded by Stevie Wonder in 1976. It appears on the Grammy award winning album Songs In the Key of Life.
In 1996, Luther Vandross and Donnell Jones recorded covers of this song. The versions playing on my soundbyte are the original by Stevie Wonder and the version done by Donnell Jones. Which do you prefer?
As a side note:
  • Did you know that Donnell's dad is gospel great Bobby Jones? Does he still have a show on sunday mornings on BET?
  • Donnell is also known as Ibrahim Akhter since he converted to Islam i n 2003

Enjoy!

Mr Wonder all the way! I like Donnell Jones but I Think Stevie's songs are best left on their own...the magic just cant be recreated.

Stevie Wonder recorded covers should be outlawed! I mean it . . . His music is sacrosanct and is best left alone. Sing it at a wedding, sample it if you must, but do not re-record and release it. I agree with oyinkan, the magic cannot be recreated.

To those who prefer Donnell Jones's cover, may you walk in wet socks all day.

I am yet to find an album that can surpass SW's original work.

Donell Jones: That's strange. And his dad is Bobby Jones - the gospel singer. I am not judging Donell Jones.

Just wondering. 'Cause most times it is assumed that sons take after their fathers. Oh well........

Anyways.... thanks, sista.
